I gave about 50 to the first black library in Rayne, La. Gave some to my brother but it turns out that he only reads S/F these days. I still have about 20-30 boxes plus the selection I have all over the place.
It’s hard to give them away.

Both my dad and the other guy were functionally illiterate ( sad to say) . They were children of sharecroppers while my mother’s family had their own farm, land , etc. And attended school ( both mom and dad were born in the 1920s.

I am late but this the story.
They met a Catholic Church bazaar in St Landry parish in 1943; allegedly she met two beaus that night and she sent the “ acceptance” letter to the wrong guy. They got married in 1944; stayed together ( with a ten year break) until 2015 when my mom passed.
