Can anyone explain to me why exactly California assistance agencies hang up on you so regularly? I've had what I assume is the machine, but maybe not, hang up on dozens of phone calls, while trying to get ahold of case workers for both social services agency and housing authority.

I've lived in half a dozen states across the US. I've finally gotten somewhere that has what I consider accessible and functional mass transit. I can't describe just how much not needing to depend on friends, and being able to accomplish things for myself, has improved my mental health.

The more the news comes in, the more I think that I'm very grateful to have fled the southwest US this year.
