He was always doing double duty between Dateline and NN. It was his decision as far as I know. He is 65. Maybe he wanted more time to enjoy life.

Joy Reid was the only person fired. The rest are still working at the MSNBC and Lester is still going to be working on Dateline.

That's pretty misleading. 4 of these people are still at MSNBC. And Lester is staying at Dateline.
