Immunology Prof @ UW (Seattle). Cell death and inflammation in brains, lungs and tumors. I’d rather be outside, probably on a bike.

Hey I know some of those experts!

Sen. Patty Murray @murray.senate.gov visited our dept. today to talk with @marionpepper.bsky.social about the importance of immunology and vaccine research.

We are lucky to have these leaders advocating for us in uncertain times! #immunosky #immunology

A person on a bicycle is by far the most energy-efficient among animals and machines per distance traveled relative to body weight. The bicycle is magic.

A graph titled "Cost of Transport" showing the relationship between body weight (in kilograms) and energy consumption for distance traveled (calories per gram per kilometer) for various animals and machines. It highlights that a person on a bicycle ranks first in efficiency.

Im sure the new potential head of HHS, who has long been an avowed opponent of vaccines and proponent of raw milk, is carefully looking at the science and reconsidering his views since avian influenza spreading among dairy cows throughout the US just as annual flu season is about to start. Right??

In the unlikely event this one isnt also full could you add me? Thanks!

Hat tip to my brother Lincoln for snagging the username Big—L on here. He’s a tall strapping lad whose name starts with an L, so solid choice.

But more importantly this makes his handle @big--l.bsky.social which is an excellent tribute to The Dude!

Strong work!

Hello, #ScienceBluesky!
Stoked to start sharing cool science again!

Here is a pic I took of the aurora in Washington October 10th. An amazing amount of science goes into predicting when it’s worth driving 2.5 hours to clear skies!

Truly a wonder of the natural world!

👋 fellow immunologists, it’s a pleasure to be with you all on bsky! I work on type I #interferons, I figured it would be neat to have a starter pack for those of us working on all things IFN! I’ll keep adding to it, let me know if you want to be included! #immunology #immunosky go.bsky.app/71vKZJA

I feel this as both a reviewer (many more requests) and author (long review times, reviewers ghosting after agreeing to review).

The strain on scientific publishing: we set out to characterise the remarkable growth of the scientific literature in the last few years, in spite of declining growth in total scientists. What is going on?

I made a starter pack for those of us interested in or working on T cells. Let me know if you would like to be added or know somebody that should be added.

Looking forward to scientific discussions and updates on our favorite immune cell type!
