This is worthy of my very first post. I am extremely grateful that my professional organization, the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy has chosen to approve a position on Gender-Affirming Care.

Gender-Affirming Care Position Statement The AAMFT Board of Directors is proud to announce the approval of a position statement on Gender-Affirming Care. "Research consistently demonstrates that gender-affirming care significantly improves mental health outcomes, including reduced rates of depression and suicide, for nonbinary or gender-expansive individuals, and this statement reflects AAMFT’s values by ensuring that Marriage and Family Therapists are guided by evidence-based practices that are culturally competent and life-saving,” said AAMFT Board President, Silvia Kaminsky, MSEd. "AAMFT position statements are held to a high standard of study and consideration and must be a commanding issue and they are meant to be evergreen. The AAMFT Board's approval of the Gender Affirming Care Position Statement speaks to the importance of this commanding issue and the need for AAMFT to add a systemic perspective to the conversation especially given its DEI development over the past years.
