I am a doctor who wears glasses. Friend to all tacos and noodles. Houston.
2 from my days in the East Village. Northern Spy had several perfectly executed “simple” dishes but really it was the kale salad.

The Redhead remains my favorite restaurant ever. Meg’s fried chicken, the butter, their early weekly prix fixe dinners, the cocktails & of course the people.

Yes! Need them to get big enough to come to Houston (or at least Austin) for a show.

No worries. Things are bad & people are stressed! As a biking enthusiast in a depressingly car-centric city (Houston), I dig your transit focus.

I think you have misunderstood my post. I was asking my fellow American progressives what actions they mean for us to take when they suggest we “prepare” for Trump to cancel elections.

Sure, share the list!

Yeah, I agree we should keep doing this. I don’t know that that is what people mean by being prepared, but great if so.

I take comfort in knowing they don’t have nearly enough agents to accomplish that. We have to stay engaged & organized and out in the streets. It would
be nice if national Dem leadership would join, but we play the hand we’re dealt I guess.

Exactly. A useless bit of pedantry inserted into a conversation.

Ok and that relates to her ability to effectively utilize popular musicians to energize her supporters…how?

I feel that way myself not infrequently! Which is why I appreciate Jamelle & others taking the time to educate on electoral processes. Gives me a way to prioritize my stress.

I am sympathetic to this, but I get stuck at what exactly people are asking to happen to be “prepared.”
January 17, 2026 at 4:43 PM
What did this add to the point being made?

There are many tactics Republicans can & may employ to try to depress voter turnout and intimidate voters. That said, voter turnout can also be depressed by people preemptively declaring the election is rigged. It takes effort to get to the polls, it doesn't help to tell people it's not worth it.

How should we prepare? (Legit question, not snark)
