I visited Tropical Bird Land at the weekend with my nephews. I must confess to having quite a lot of respect for these little guys (purely on the basis that a lot of people I've met who are into skiing have been quite insufferable 😂🙈).

This was so obvious to me during the covid pandemic.

Not that I had any call to reach out to the British government for assistance. But their overwhelming messaging to folk abroad was, "Don't contact us if you need to get home. We won't help you. There's probably commercial options, look them up."

The UK government is, and always has been, happy to use and exploit British people (and others) in the name of imperialism and capital extraction.

But they will never protect, support or rescue citizens/anyone unless it is deemed in their own explicit interest.
