Rather than offering congratulations or respectful policy-based critique, your remarks contributed to an atmosphere of political stigmatization and racial suspicion. Senator Gillibrand, by drawing on Islamophobic language and framing Mamdani's views as aligned with "global jihad," and Representative Jeffries, by demanding "clarification" in a way that echoed bad-faith attacks, you legitimized a campaign of vilification that quickly escalated far beyond political discourse. Your words, whether intended or not, lent credibility to a dangerous precedent: the use of citizenship status as a weapon against critics of U.S. foreign policy. Just days after your comments, the Trump campaign explicitly floated the idea of de-naturalizing Mamdani - a chilling echo of authoritarian tactics, and a signal to all naturalized citizens that their place in American civic life is conditional. Assemblymember Mamdani's political positions - particularly his criticisms of the Israeli government's actions in Gaza - are shared by millions of Americans. Dissent is not a threat; it is a constitutional right. To conflate criticism of state violence with extremism, or to treat it as grounds for questioning someone's legitimacy as a citizen, is to betray that fundamental principle. Not as a constituent but as a fellow American, I urge you to reconsider your posture toward Zohran Mamdani. You owe him and New Yorkers - all Americans, a public correction of the record - and a clear rejection of the xenophobic, anti-democratic forces that are seeking to punish him not for misconduct, but for his courage. Once a vaccine has met rigorous safety standards, access should be guided by the needs and desires of those who wish to protect themselves and their families. In a free society, we must trust people to make informed decisions about their own health. Ensuring broad access empowers individuals, respects autonomy, and supports public health without imposing one-size-fits-all mandates. Let choice, not restriction, shape our public health policy.

Subject: Public Comment - Oppose Expansion of SpaceX Operations Due to Repeated Environmental Violations Dear Federal Aviation Administration, I strongly urge the FAA to deny any expansion or continued authorization of SpaceX operations - particularly launches involving its Starship platform - until full environmental reviews are completed, violations are addressed, and enforceable safeguards are in place. SpaceX's Environmental Record Is Irrefutably Alarming Recent investigations by NBC News, The New York Times, and U.S. PIRG have revealed a disturbing pattern of regulatory violations, ecological destruction, and public endangerment: Clean Water Act violations: SpaceX discharged industrial wastewater into Texas waters at least four times between March and July 2024, without required permits (TCEQ & EPA findings). Toxic pollutants, including mercury: According to SpaceX's own filings, its deluge water system discharged mercury at levels over 50 times higher than the state's acute toxicity threshold - a potential neurological hazard for fish, wildlife, and human communities. Wildlife habitat destruction: Rocket launches have caused fires, explosions, and debris that damaged protected areas near Boca Chica, endangering migratory birds and sea turtles, including federally listed species. Atmospheric and orbital pollution: SpaceX's projected mega-constellation of 40,000+ satellites will add 29 tons of burning metal into the atmosphere daily, according to U.S. PIRG - threatening the ozone layer, Earth's magnetosphere, and overall climate stability. Failure to act in good faith: After receiving EPA violation notices in March 2024, SpaceX proceeded with its third Starship launch the next day without correcting or even acknowledging its permit failures. 1/2 This Is a Pattern of Negligence, Not Innovation SpaceX has demonstrated a blatant disregard for environmental law, safety standards, and democratic public accountability - all while receiving favorable treatment from agencies responsible for protecting the public and environment. We cannot allow a private company, no matter how ambitious or politically influential, to erode the rule of law and degrade our planet's health. The harm is not hypothetical - it is documented, ongoing, and accelerating. I Urge the Following Actions: 1. Suspend all new launch or expansion permits for SpaceX until independent Environmental Impact Statements are completed under NEPA and made public. 2. Rescind the FCC's categorical exclusion for satellite mega-constellations from environmental review. 3. Pursue full enforcement actions against SpaceX for past and ongoing Clean Water Act and air pollution violations, including civil penalties and, if warranted, criminal investigations. 4. Require public hearings and environmental justice assessments before any further project approvals in vulnerable ecosystems like South Texas or coastal Florida. Space exploration must not be allowed to trample Earth's ecosystems and communities. We still have time to change course - but only if regulatory agencies fulfill their mandate to protect the public interest, not corporate convenience.
