How it all turned out in the end:

I would like one day when the railway, the trains and the public all behave themselves, please?

Yesterday was not that day, today is also not going to be that day…

What hope for tomorrow? 🤞🏼

It’s turning out to be one of those days again 🙄

Lovely bit of raised kerb at this bus stop to allow level boarding of the bus … but how are you actually supposed to board the bus, when the entire length of the raised kerb is alongside the closed side of the bus shelter? 🧐

I’m not joking about the week, just look at those delays… 🥱
July 12, 2025 at 12:47 AM
It’s been an absolute shambles of a week on my little corner of the railway 😫, but seeing the Paddington Band always makes things better! 🎼🎶🎺🥁

Unexpected musical accompaniment of the day 🧐

The other end, apparently, was this!

11 years ago and a slow journey for the Night Riviera from Paddington! 🐌

(Only joking, this is the empty stock to Old Oak Common in the morning)
June 10, 2025 at 9:46 PM
Not sure how this is going to work, this road is a dead end!
June 10, 2025 at 3:19 PM
It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Paddington Band, so it was great to have that opportunity tonight!

Hauled by HST power cars!

It’s doing some OLÉ testing which apparently might result in a minor but interesting operational change.

Overtaking my favourite freight train on the GWML
May 20, 2025 at 10:39 AM
It will never cease to amaze me that you can take the same set of basic components (engine, transmission, bogies) and produce an excellent train (class 156), an unremarkable train (class 150) and an absolutely terrible train (class 153).

Which means I can’t use these three, because they’re in the wrong county/constituency. This election isn’t for a thing which varies across this constituency border, but we still vote in the same polling station regardless.
May 1, 2025 at 4:21 PM
So I have to walk or drive out of my county, through the neighbouring one, and back over the border to get to my polling station!

It’s also a very quiet polling station - at 5pm I was the 240th voter of the day.

It picks up odds and ends which fall wrong side of the county boundary.
May 1, 2025 at 4:21 PM
I live in what’s apparently called a Functional Exclave - the land is contiguous with the rest of the county/consitiuency, but the road network is not! There are footpaths but they’re not necessarily usable all year round.
May 1, 2025 at 4:21 PM
To vote! ✅

But it’s not quite as simple as it seems…

It’s around a mile to my polling station (🔴) despite there being three others (🔵🔵🔵) within half a mile of my house!

Why?

Well…

•double 323s in regular service in Manchester area

Obviously I knew all of this had happened but this is the first time I’ve seen it for myself.

30 years ago I would never have thought it would happen! 😂
April 25, 2025 at 12:32 PM
This is mindblowing to me on several levels 🤣🤯

As a former 323 driver and former Salford resident:

•323s at Salford Crescent on a service from Blackpool

•ex-Birmingham 323s in service in Manchester

•third platform under construction at Salford Crescent

A banner on the platform gives it a different name again! 🤣

Class 158 PIS renaming stations again 🤣
