But you’re a journalist, and know the facts are that Democrats are actually working on policy and passing bills. So what’s the basis for saying “Democrats almost take disabled votes for granted and Republicans actively court them”? Because the facts don’t point to that.

The actual legislation to end restraint and seclusion is also a Democratic bill: Don Beyer, though Amadeh is a cosponsor. Is a Democrat drafting a bill and sponsoring it taking votes for granted, while a Republican signing on to it is instead courting votes?

These are things Democrats have been advocating for actually following through with policy for a long time. Sherrod Brown led the fight to get rid of less-than-minimum wage for disabled employees. The bill for raising SSI income limits for disabled folks was a Brown bill.
