Amazing time talking about pulsars and gravitational waves at the WOMAD Festival! Always a joy when the audience has incredibly insightful questions!

(the "aliens..." hands pose was unplanned, though)

UK higher education is collapsing due to lack of government funding. How many universities will go bust before the government takes notice of this crisis? This year my university cut 100 jobs with 150 more to come; this is happening nationwide:

What do eclipses look like in radio astronomy? Although the sun appears slightly larger in radio than optical, the biggest difference is that we see *much* more of the Corona at radio wavelengths. Image credit: Sijie Yu/NJIT.

The pulsar timing array evidence for the gravitational wave background was one of the biggest results in physics this year, glad to see it continuing to get the recognition it deserves! @nanograv.bsky.social @epta.bsky.social 🔭

Excited to announce that my research programme "EMO-GP: Emission Mechanisms of Giant Pulses" has been selected for UKRI funding! If you know anyone who is interested in working on giant pulses, fast radio bursts and magnetars, I will be taking on a postdoc in the coming months! 🔭

Yesterday was Guy Fawkes night, so I decided to share an animation that I made of the cosmic fireworks you'd see if your eyes worked at radio wavelengths. The bright dots are distant galaxies, but you'd also see fast radio bursts flashing all over the sky like fireworks! youtu.be/Xmsygr3sCL8?... 🔭
Sky Distribution of Fast Radio Bursts
If your eyes could see the sky at radio wavelengths, this is what it would look like - very different to the optical night sky. The bright points are mostly ...

This new data poisoning tool lets artists fight back against generative AI

The tool, called Nightshade, messes up training data in ways that could cause serious damage to image-generating AI models.
