Plus I consider the PS2 North American version to be the true game difficulty balance where enmies on normal/hard have 20% more health and across all difficulties (except easy/automatic mode) they do 20% more damage to Dante.

Also, just realized while playing DMC1 on PCSX2 that there's a widescreen patch toggle. It really just stretches the game screen similar to the HD Collection but it still looks really good! A few graphical bugs here and there from the emulation but way better than the HD collection

With the rumored remake, I'm hoping they add post-mission rank details of stats vs expectations, ability to quick-switch guns during play, ability to rotate camera, mission challenge mode (they'll prob do mission select), bloody palace, multiple enemy types during some fights, Trish/Vergil mode

Thanks! I wish the game displayed at the end of each mission the player's stats regarding the ranking score for that mission and what's required for each grade, it's so confusing and having to constantly look up a guide online or a printed one kinda sucks

And my 3rd follow-up reply but i just did a fresh playthrough of DMC1 NA PS2 version on PCSX2, 100%'d Normal, then cleared Hard and DMD mode using normal Dante. Gonna S-rank every mission in Normal difficulty in New Game+ for King of Hell special ending photo which i've never actually gotten before

Not entirely sure about bosses but they do seem to have a special exemption in DMD difficulty and maybe other difficulties where the player's health bar needs to be dark red to actually go to 0 from a hit, so that's why so often the player ends up with 1hp left

To follow up on the reply i just made, i tested out a fresh game using regular Dante in DMD mode, had a fetish DT, let it hit me with it's spinning yo-yo blade attack, and my health went to 1hp after being green. But tried with healthbar yellow-ish orange against bloody marionette and died

So in DMC1 across all regions and platform versions inc og PS2 versions, if your health bar is green, you cannot die from a single big damage hit, you'll still have 1hp. In DMD mode, against bosses, you'll only die when health bar is dark red, so even if light red and get hit, you'll have 1 hp left

Interesting! I watched all three videos, in the NA PS2 version I don't ever remember Dante ending up with 1hp after taking big damage that should be more than enough to kill him. Maybe it's a DMD-only feature, or maybe it's PAL-version specific, i'll have to play DMD on NA PS2 again soon to check

Hey, unrelated reply but I commented on your DMC1 Mundus DMD S rank video yesterday. First of all CONGRATS!, that's an insanely difficult mission. When Mundus lunged at you and punched Dante, here's what I meant when I said that in the original North America/PAL PS2 versions, Dante would've died

Hi Mr. Romano, I just want to recommend doing a Gematsu article on a current kickstarter for a classic 16-bit style jrpg called Seed of Nostalgia. Hiroki Kikuta (Mana series composer) will be doing some music along with Eddie Marianukroh (Chained Echoes).
