We are the last family on Earth to open our Christmas presents, even taking into consideration the global time zones. We do not open ours on Christmas Eve. We do not open ours on Christmas morning nor anytime anytime that whole afternoon.

You people with birthdays close to Christmas: were you as annoyed and sad as my big sister was? Today she would have been 74 and still whining how huge my August birthdays were.

With the city budget fistfight starting Monday --with proposed Regina Transit slashing-- I again suggest my plan:

I had an interesting time today doing a Zoom table-read of a thriller action movie script with six actors, the director, and the screenwriter. It was mostly for the writer's benefit to hear how it worked.

Wish me luck!

I sent in an audition tape for a tv show in development -- a workplace comedy of spiritual chaos at a luxury resort. I applied for a supporting role as a flaky wellness enthusiast.

Hoping to be called for an in-person audition. Shooting starts mid-Dec in #YQR.

-- not the goofy, grumpy old man version of Henry Fonda in the movie version.

It's said that James Earl Jones did a perfect version of Norman on Broadway in 2005: angry and helpless, scared of his increasing dementia, his witty one-liners not played for laughs.

Last week I auditioned for the part of Norman for a theatre production of 'On Golden Pond,' but did not land it. There was a heck of a lot of impressive talent in that room.

My hope now, as an audience member, is the character be true to the original depiction by the playwright --

There were about 30 of us in room auditioning for a play of five characters. There were four of us older men vying for the same role.

It was darn fun. I hope to do more of these to get more audition experience. 😀

For my acting resume, I have to make a few one-minute monologues. Take a look at my second one:

I loved being part of the theatre play of 'The Trial of Louis Riel.' It was such a learning experience and re-ignited my thrill of being on stage after all these years.

I have two auditions coming up and I need to brush up my skills at drloblaw.com

Jane won't believe me when I say the city workers are fixing the sewer pipes all wrong! She doesn't seem to realize us 65-year-old men know everything.

There are many great quotes In Clint Eastwood's movie 'The Unforgiven,' but one I rewrote myself --I must say, with my fat ego-- is better than the original.

At the end of each performance of The Trial of Louis Riel, the Judge polls the audience for their own personal verdict.

Few for guilty, more for acquittal due to insanity, most for total exoneration.

Another great matinee of The Trial of Louis Riel in front of 300+ interested kids.

An actor playing a lawyer was too sick, so director filled in and did a superb job. Shows the skill level of everyone involved, me stumbling along.
