AOC: An agency that is attacking U.S. citizens, kidnapping five-year-olds and using them as bait, and privately circulating the idea that they can violate the rights of Americans by busting down their doors—they deserve to be defunded, and I’ll take any step in that direction.

We went from "It's terrible that ICE is arresting people in pre-schools" to "It's terrible that ICE is arresting pre-schoolers" in about two months.

Say something. Now. You can already see the speed of ICE escalation. Don't wait any longer.

I love to watch ICE protesters learn from one another, but I also love how each location retains its own unique protest flavor. Have you seen any protest strategies that stand out to you?

There are many ways that immigration enforcement leads to student absences.

But a new one is rising to the top.

And I love it.

Students walk out in solidarity to protest ICE and CBP in their neighborhoods! ✊✊🏽✊🏽

Ways to support immigrant communities:
1. Donate to advocacy orgs
2. Attend a KYR training
3. Educate yourself (read!)
4. If there's enforcement in your area, consider offering to pick up groceries, take kids to school, etc.
5. Vote like your life (and those of your neighbors) depends on it!

If you never cared about immigration until you saw a video of someone picked up off the street, or a mother taken from her child’s arms, or a family arrested at the courthouse, it’s OK. Today is a perfect day to learn about deportation.
And today is the perfect day to start doing something about it.

there may well be more citizens showing up here in Charlotte to learn how to peacefully resist Trump’s indiscriminate mass deportation effort than federal agents on the ground here, as we saw firsthand last night.

If you didn’t learn about ICE until today and have no data on deportation, you can still make an argument against what’s going on right now. Let me show you.

Spent the weekend in Mount Pleasant—the same Iowa city we visited in 2018 after it was hit by a massive ICE raid.

If researching deportation has taught me anything, it’s this: communities, are strong, creative, and resourceful. They never asked to be heroes. But if you make them, they will.

As a researcher, I pay attention to new words and phrases US media (English and Spanish) now has to use to describe US politics: "ICE round-up," "immigration sweeps," and "narcolancha" are now regularly in circulation. Telling.

These children--like all children caught in the middle of immigration enforcement--will carry these mental scars with them forever.
