The aim of Trump’s 75% cut to NIH overhead is to “reduce federal taxpayer subsidization of leftist agendas”

Here in the NC Research Triangle, it will devastate medical & nursing schools & universities, eg Duke, UNC at Chapel Hill, NC State

Do senators Budd & Tillis think this HELPS the NC economy?
The rationale for the cap to indirect costs: “help reduce federal taxpayer subsidization of leftist agendas”

Time for university presidents across the nation—red and blue states—to put an end to this absolute madness before he actually destroys our universities.

How do universities expect to survive? Federal grants keep universities open, people employed, & the economy moving. This chaos will mean that people lose their jobs & will not be able to afford eggs at any price.

Per an NIH source:

“Discussions with colleagues have suggested that if the universities all come together and raise hell about the delays to funding caused by not holding meetings, that might move the needle. From every state. There are well-funded universities in red states that will be impacted.”

Why should the public care about the freeze on the NIH? Aside from the need for scientific pursuits to make our society better…
-For every dollar we invest in NIH research, there is a $2.5 return.
-Research dollars help fund universities that employ non-academics. (1/)

I just reached out to my senators about the NIH situation. If you need to find out how much impact NIH has in your state in terms of dollars in and their economic impact here's a link: www.unitedformedicalresearch.org/nih-in-your-...
