Asked whether Hamas anticipated the scale of Gaza’s destruction after October 7, the group’s spokesperson in Gaza Hazem Qassem rejects holding resistance responsible for Israel’s response. He warns against turning the debate into what he calls a “trial” of Palestinian history — from Jordan and Lebanon to the First and Second Intifadas — arguing that criminalizing October 7 amounts to putting the entire Palestinian people and history of resistance on trial. Qassem insists Israel alone bears responsibility for genocide, starvation, and siege, noting Israel’s response was unprecedented even according to US President Trump and by all modern standards. Fatah’s Munther Hayek responds that calling for review is not criminalization. The individuals in this photograph are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in Sudan. I believe the war will only end if the supply lines in Kufrah, Bosaso, or Chad are cut. Other than that, no matter what happens, diplomacy will not work.
