‘Imaginative storytelling & unexpected plotlines top off a brilliant read. Someone needs to make a movie!

‘If you, like me, are not quite sure where humanity is heading, and how that relates to the past, I guarantee you will love this book.’

I didn’t think when using the pic, but is this something people outside the UK have never seen? It’s a comedy classic here!

Total sellout. I can’t believe anyone who has any respect for the professionalism of teachers and for the future of education for democracy has anything to do with him.

Academisation was one of the worst things to happen to education in England
How much has it cost? For what benefit?

The thought that occurred to me was to what extent this is aimed at nurturing some understanding of/interest in the subject &how much it is aimed at inputting the answers to the test. As teachers, readers of this publication will be familiar with the complexity that exists between these two factors

Why is anyone even listening to what this deluded man has to say about education anymore?

Another lovely review. Many, many thanks to readers for these. It’s so encouraging to know that people enjoy reading ‘Eco’ as much as I enjoyed writing it. amzn.eu/d/bl8yRwZ

And Starmer says he wants AI to take over school record keeping so teachers spend longer in the classroom. Laughable, really. It’s becoming obvious that there are some records that shouldn’t be kept on the www and information about children is a no-brainer in this respect.

Many years ago when I was a teacher we objected to children being required to use a digital fingerprint instead of bringing lunch money, but I think that’s commonplace now.

It does some good summaries on Amazon too, but children’s school records are rather a different prospect.

He obviously hasn’t a clue about what teachers do
Is Bridget Phillpson as clueless? As a SEND teacher I had all kinds of record keeping to do, medical, social as well as educational. It was all highly confidential

Well, as a retired teacher, I thought teens hacking their own school website (sometimes happens apparently) is really only the 2020s equivalent of triggering the school bell to go off at 2pm so you can go home early. There is no unhackable website. We need to remember this in policy making.

The new series of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ (now airing on Channel 5 in the UK) was the reason for researching & writing this article, but it turned into a fabulous wellbeing detox experience, too. See you on Sutton Bank everyone! (The view in the header picture).

Which is why this way of administering and funding schooling is a bad idea. Of course not *all* academies and MATs do things like this. But the system is wide open for those CEOs/business managers etc with such ideas.
