How can we better support individuals living with #dyslexia?
We spoke to @drrebeccagordon.bsky.social (@ioe.bsky.social) to find out.
www.ucl.ac.uk/brain-scienc...
"We need awareness in the workplace so that support and reasonable adjustments can be made for dyslexic adults. In line with this, we need to remove any stigma there might be about disclosing a dyslexia diagnosis. We know that dyslexia is not related to intelligence yet, for some,
this myth persists."

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

If you're curious about Bunge's (2024) paper, here is the link (open access): onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

It provides an interesting take on how to go about clearing confusions surrounding the concept of executive function from a cognitive neuro perspective. Highly recommended.(2/2)
Figure 1 of Bunge's (2024) paper. The figure caption says:

Blindfolded individuals describing EFs based on their limited exploration of the phenomenon. Presented here is a sampling of terms for EFs found in the literature, with possibly synonymous terms or related processes grouped together. These tentative groupings are
meant for illustrative purposes only. Adapted from artist’s rendering by G. Renee Guzlas (Himmelfarb, Stenvinkel, Ikizler, & Hakim, 2002).

Also happy to announce a new publication with @damcotto.bsky.social at British Journal of Educational Psychology on whether working memory moderates the effect of fading (it didn't, but prior knowledge did; fading also had more benefits compared to other conditions). DOI: doi.org/10.1111/bjep...

80 years ago today, my grandmother left my 1-year-old mum with a neighbour and went and got drunk with my great auntie Ilene.

Happy VE Day everyone!
