Host of the chess podcast, Chess Journeys. I'm an adult chess improver.
So happy to see that people are liking my Chessable course: chessable.com/chess-journe.... This review is particularly kind. Anyone else think that I should start writing the sequel? (Or am I already doing that??)

Can't believe I'm completing reviews of my own Chessable course. Here's the last puzzle, with a David vs. Goliath motif. Black to move.

My first course has been published on
@chessable
today! It focuses on making our tactical knowledge more accessible during games. As I've talked a lot about on Chess Journeys, turning knowledge into skill. Let me know what you think of it.

Yet another rapid game where a "boring" exchange Slav that I end quickly with fireworks. Anyone else find this opening leading to fun games, or am I the only one?

Turning your opponent's unsound gambit into a checkmate miniature is the height of joy.

I just won my OTB game with a move right out of my upcoming Chessable course. Black to move. Would you recapture with Nxf6? It's satisfying to see the practice pay off in games. #sneakyqueen #chesspunks

Chesscom puzzles are so interesting. Some low rated ones are so challenging. This puzzle is rated 2558. White to move.

Another classical win tonight with the Chessnut Pro board. Broke 2100 Lichess. The game was marred with some terrible blunders. But I will take the win.

Black to move, can they take the b4 pawn?

Club was closed tonight. Stayed home and played a 30/20 game on Lichess with my Chessnut Pro. It was a great experience, and I will be doing this a lot more. Let me know if you are up for the occasional 45 minute game. Black to move. Why does Bxc6 lose for white here. How did I respond?

Round 6 of the NA Open and I lost in this position. It's black to move. Can you see why Rac8 loses? I saw white's winning move, but didn't look at it closely enough. One round to go.

Day 1 of the NA Open was a success. 2/3 with a bye, draw, and a win (the attached game) against higher rated opponents. Got to meet some fans of the podcast. Had to go down 11 floors of stairs to make Rd 1. Great day. Looking forward to tomorrow!

My first round of the North American Open ended in a draw against an 1800. I made a huge mistake in the opening, going down a pawn. But I fought hard. My opponent moved their rook and then offered a draw. I was relieved as I thought a 4/3 pawn on same side should be a loooong draw. #chesspunks

Just played a rapid game. I'm the black pieces and up a pawn. But during the game I thought this would probably be a draw. My opponent played Qf1. How does this reveal a fundamental misunderstanding of endgames? Feeling better about my endgame understanding after. #chesspunks

Fun chess stuff today. After reaching my new puzzle rating high of 2932, I got to finish a blitz game in style. Does anyone else have good and bad days with their chess/tactics vision? I worry my roller coaster tactical ability is related to my age.

Just finished my first classical OTB game in a few weeks. My opponent resigned after 13 moves in this position. Sometimes OTB games aren't soulcrushing, humiliating losses! #chesspunks
