Confirmed bachelor. Writing about queer & disability representation. Only watching anything for the queer-coded villains. Opinions my own.
She reflected later on her poor choice of masculine pronouns in this book. Very interesting.

I recommend Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness every day forever, re worldbuilding rethinking gender/ sexuality/ the futility of everything...

Seriously we may be getting closer to figuring out wtf Tom Bombadill is, and why he will not shut up.

seriously, this particular crossover might actually make sense, because isn't Pennywise supposed to be some kind of interdimensional cosmic horror?? omg I need to think about this.

Pennywise's absence from Second Age Arda is actually canonical, because the Valar flung him into the Void when he lost the War of Wrath at the end of the First Age.

@romgothsam.bsky.social group got me into online watch-parties during lockdown. Great fun. I started running them for students - Bake-Off, Drag Race, etc.

One of my happiest memories of uni is several of us piling onto one girl's bed (while she was in it) to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer each week. The girl in question hated the show but her room was the agreed communal TV room!

And possibly bleaching textiles?

I will still never be satisfied in life until Ben Daniels takes a turn as Sauron. He absolutely KILLS me in The Exorcist and Interview With the Vampire. He would be so hilarious as Sauron!

oooh mine is if my feet feel clammy. I can't go on until I have washed my feet & changed socks

I saw electrical box/ alarm on the wall in a palace in The Tudors. But otherwise that show was exemplary for rigorous historical accuracy in every detail.

Obviously struggling to choose between fighting Sauron in Middle Earth, vs all the blazing family rows she could kick off in Valinor...
YES Bear McReary is a great screen composer. I read the Uruk & Adar theme is played on an Aztec death-whistle & a flute made of human bone?!! That's commitment.

oh the little tear is lovely!

Yes it looked horrifying. like a nuclear reactor in meltdown. But Galadriel does live for drama, so that must have been a real temptation for her...

I wish I had saved the WW2-style poster shared on here saying 'when you use genAI, you are prompting Hitler'. Would love to put it up at work 'just as an interesting example of design'🧐

Certainly! My diet is mostly peas and wholemeal bread like a medieval peasant. The only thing that affected me was the time I ate an entire very large (and cold) watermelon in like 36 hours...
Potatoes give me heartburn, oddly.

Imagine my disappointment when I watched the show and it did not seem as cool as whatever those women were doing. I need a show about the early female fandom instead!

This is pretty much the ONLY thing I know about Star Trek. Middle-aged women printing their own Kirk/Spok 'zines.
