Getting turned away from CVS is what prompted this post. I was told "they are no longer sending COVID vaccines to this location" after we got there for our appointment.

After 4 tries, my children still do not have their COVID vaccines. This search for vaccines... it's starting to feel like 2021 all over again. In the richest country in the world, it shouldn't be this hard to get vaccinated.

Just in case you thought we were finish with measles because you haven't heard about it in a while, I'm just here to remind you that measles case continuing to rise. There are 1514 confirmed cases for 2025 so far. This is about 5.5 times more than the cases in 2024, and 26 times more than 2023.

I like to use my social media to help break down complex medical studies to help people better understand the science and subsequent recommendations, but today I will just say, if the person sharing a medical recommendation with you can't pronounce the words, DON"T TRUST THEIR INFORMATION!

I'm old enough to remember when RFK said people shouldn't take medical advice from him. Watching him stand beside the President who struggled to even pronounce acetaminophen while giving medical advice to women, all I could hope was that people remembered NOT to take medical advice from them.

I'm concerned about the multi-state outbreak of vibrio vulnificus (flesh-eating bacteria) in the Gulf, with 60+ cases across 5 states, & 10+ deaths. On my travels along the gulf states, I didn't see any additional information on how to stay safe. I wonder how CDC cuts have impacted this response.

Florida has seen a major decline in school enrollment resulting from the immigration crackdown there. Now school districts are faced with multimillion dollar cuts. I wonder if the people who voted for this knew their vote would cost American teachers and school staff their jobs.

We will see an increase in ER usage as people can't get to their regular clinician for routine and preventative care. The 25 minute ride from my old neighborhood to downtown, now calls for a 23 minute walk and 2 connections. The poverty tax in Philly now includes inaccessible resources.

Public transport linking poor neighborhoods to ones with resources like jobs, healthcare, schools is a necessary resource. Since SEPTA cuts, schools have reported soaring rates of absenteeism. We will see a rise in criminal activity, as people have been unable to get to work and make money legally.

Public transportation as a social determinant of health- I'm heartbroken by the public transport (SEPTA) service cuts impacting the neighborhood I grew up in. It is still an improvised area in West Philly, but now, people don't have the same opportunities to get out as I did.

First federal, now state programs designed to make pregnancy and birth safer are being cut. Tracking of adverse MCH outcomes have been halted or cut both federally and in some states.

Yet the feds propose to pay people to have more children. This feels like a trap. Maybe even a death trap.

Is the MAGA plan to relegate women to SAHM roles, and eliminate all pathways out of poverty so we have only a worker and elite class?

Every pathway I used to get out of poverty has been cut or completely eliminated. I'm left wondering am I the success story this country no longer wants.
