I love that! I had one grad class that encouraged us to write tasks, but I wish the professor had also had us share the tasks on a discussion board for feedback and to build our collection.

I think that's one of the things I am really loving about this book too - there's a chapter on procedural tasks and how to elevate even that type of process.

It wasn't until I started getting involved in social media that I started seeing classroom teachers actively engaged in writing tasks.

Agree on Don Steward - some amazing tasks there!

And I also agree that experience plays a part, but is it currently addressed at all? I would say that for a good part of my career, I thought that tasks were up to the textbook writers, not the everyday classroom teacher.

True - Most of my best growth as a teacher was due to social media.

And I recognize that because of the global connections we've made due to social media, we are exposed to ideas outside of our geographic area.

And when I'm thinking of good problems, my go-to's tend to be some of the UK sites

I totally understand the time issue. Even once you are out in the workforce and you have the content, students and pedagogy, there's still the time issue :)

I purchased it on Kindle - it's been VERY thought provoking! I hope you enjoy it!

Or is it just who I follow? Am I just in a bubble due to the experiences I've had online and being able to connect with so many amazing educators?

All valid points. But at what point do we engage with that discussion? It seems like there should be a point where task design is part of the journey / training.

I am currently reading Mathematical Tasks by Chris McGrane and Mark McCourt. I also follow several UK maths teachers and really enjoy the tasks they share. It makes me wonder about task design - is it part of the teacher training program or just related to who I follow?

I haven't made it to the "go through my bookshelves" stage of summer yet :)

Thanks! I think I have that book too!

Does anyone know if there is a collection of error analysis or spot the error problems for HS Geometry?

Thanks!

Was everything claimed? :)

Trying to resist, but it's so tough if you've posted on all of my social media :)

Flipped Math might be another resource to check out. I know our Calculus teacher has used it.

Thanks! I want to work at integrating technology more efficiently this year to help students explore relationships.

Thanks for sharing! I need to explore more Geogebra tools for my geometry classes :)

The ST was assigned to this teacher and then took over after spring break. It worked really well and I saw a lot of growth in the ST over the semester.

We were really lucky this past semester that we had a student teacher that took over during maternity leave.... but something like ATA where they already have videos and notes and assignments might not be a bad idea depending on what you are teaching
druinok.bsky.social
Maybe not ideal, but would the school purchase something like ATA that comes with videos?

There is at least one Desmos activity similar to this

I am definitely more paper oriented for things like this!

Okay - this is BRILLIANT - thank you!

I always go to my previous year's planner and/or my copy of the student notebook. Putting post-it's there would be perfect. I could have a stack of post-it's to jot notes and then move to them to the notebook as needed.

Thank you!
