You may say, “Why not buy secondhand?” I have done a couple of times in the past successfully but I couldn’t find a decent one today plus you don’t know how the previous “careful owner” or indeed “owners” have treated it. Could be a false economy. Could be knackered in a year or much less.

Sad news. Top pro player. GL was one of the first drummers I saw play live when Squeeze supported Eddie and the Hot Rods at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall back in 1978. My first “proper” rock’n’roll comcert. RIP GL
