But... It does work. I've lost three pounds over the holidays which, frankly, never happens. So... Guess I'm a trend charger this year.

This is the only social media I sorta kinda do, and I've got out curated pretty well. I rarely see anything too toxic and when I do, it gets blocked and I never see it again.
Then, I only check it once every three days or if there's a major news story going on. So, yeah, maybe that.

Yeah, I'm going with the other guy. We have to get some dignity back. I'll take a couple years of mid success seasons with a respectable old man not likely to end in a sex and/or violence scandal if it means we're not the butt of every joke for a while.

That said, I really wish they'd choose better people to idolize. Because I might not know those victims, but it hurts my atheist soul every time I hear about one of these shootings. Because, you know, EMPATHY.

Not DEFENDING them, but parasocial relationships can be powerful. You watch a guy talking on TV and the Internet a bunch, you form a one sided bond with that person.
It's the same reason that I can read the obits of randos and feel nothing, but was really sad when I heard about Robin Williams.
