Welcome to the conversation. What do you feel was misleading? My post was in response to a previous reply that mentioned how charter schools rejected neuroatypical students. The graph displayed a juxtaposition of charters and ISDs acceptance of students with disabilities. There is no huge disparity.

According to research done for the National Center for Special Education in Charter Schools, the following graphic was taken from "Enrollment of Students with Disabilities in Charter Schools and Traditional Public Schools" (Lancet et al., 2020).

Since I'm in Texas, I will speak accordingly, as public charter schools vary by state. Texas public charter schools receive less money than traditional ISDs. Charter schools only receive funding from the state, whereas ISDs receive state and local funding—facts from the Texas Education Agency.

There's a plethora of misinformation floating around regarding charter schools. Some people are unaware that charter schools are public schools. So, traditional ISD's and charter schools are both public schools.

Since charter schools are public schools, why would the state provide funding to an educational system that's counterproductive? Additionally, the majority of charter schools are in underserved areas, therefore, low socioeconomic status families enroll their child(ren); no preferential treatment.

I appreciate your opinion and for furthering the conversation. Your statement that charter schools are inherently destructive to public schools appears to be a hasty generalization. I see that you are attempting to make a truth claim. Can you provide evidence to support your argument?
