2/2 "In order to win that war, there was, of course, zero chance on April 19th, 1775 at Lexington Green of their success….In order for that to become 100% at Yorktown, they had to open that up."
This country succeeds when there is opportunity and community for all.

10/7: join Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) in turning state capitol fountain pink to celebrate survivors and thrivers and increase awareness. Thank you to PBCC for supporting my research validating contrast mammography as an alternative to MRI! www.pabreastcancer.org/events/event...
I know of at least two women who requested breast MRI after hearing my story on @npr.org and also found their cancer early. I have #DenseBreasts and family history and requested screening MRI in 2014. Treatment was easy. #FindItEarly. #BCAM@densebreastinfo.bsky.socialwww.npr.org/2025/04/21/n...
I enjoyed this post on LinkedIn, Prof. Mathias Goyen, Chief Medical Officer, GE Healthcare, Hamburg, GE, "I strongly believe that integrating the gender dimension in research and innovation is an added value in terms of excellence, creativity, and even business opportunities." A welcome message!
Per Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) of 1986, Medicare-accepting hospitals that offer emergency services may not delay providing a medical screening examination and stabilizing treatment for an emergency medical condition regardless of legal status or individual's ability to pay.
Hey JD Vance.👋 You need to understand something. Physicians are never going to refuse emergency care to someone in an Emergency Department. No matter what you say behind that big boy podium.
#BCAM Great summary of importance of attending regular screening mammography, starting at first invitation in Sweden (recommended to start at age 40 in USA, earlier if high risk). Same incidence but higher risk of breast cancer death among those not attending screening. www.bmj.com/content/390/...
2/2 Thank you to all the women who participate in clinical trials this Breast Cancer Awareness Month #BCAM, and especially to those I have been privileged to know. This video details the journey of one such patient in our study @news.upmc.com
Grateful to @bcrfcure.bsky.social, PA Breast Cancer Coalition, Shear Foundation: funding our research on contrast-enhanced mammography as an alternative to MRI. Women with personal history or dense breasts or other risks need better than standard mammography. #BCAM. www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2JX...

As a physician, it is important to speak up and speak clearly. Federal efforts to prosecute providers for taking good care of patients, subpoena medical records, and cause confusion around safe and effective public health are dangerous to all. Health systems must prioritize patients.

Many insurance companies will cover supplemental screening for dense breasts, esp. if there are other risk factors. Discuss with your provider, and advocate for yourself. MRI is the "gold standard" if available. Other options like contrast-enhanced mammography are coming! #WorldDenseBreastDay

"High risk" includes many women with dense breasts and family history or personal history of breast cancer, and annual MRI is recommended in addition to mammography. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/38141...
All women should undergo risk assessment (to include family history, breast biopsy history, BMI, and other risk factors) initially at age 25, then every few years. Dense breasts increase risk of getting cancer and of missing it on mammography. densebreast-info.org/for-provider...
