Try what, exactly? Amtrak can’t TRY to have a limitless budget, it has actual constraints. It would be unwise for them to greenlight impossible projects when they don’t see a viable path forward.

Sure. But Amtrak officials exist in the real world, where resources are limited and the government is complex and often hostile.
My feedback was about an Amtrak policy decision, not an abstract ideal. But I understand your frustration!

I’m ok with this. I think US passenger rail should focus on strong regional connections. These seem way more viable to replace flights.

I’m a professor and last week I literally and without exaggeration had to explain what a library is to a college student :/ He kept insisting that he did not want to pay for a book and I was so confused by his confusion.

Bringing this back to say that I visited LA this weekend and was SHOCKED how easily I was able to navigate their metro! It took me wherever!! For cheap!! LAX, my hotel in Arcadia, a concert in Pasadena, meeting my friend in Santa Monica… never more than a 10 minute walk!

I rented from invitation homes (one of the biggest) and it was a nightmare. We were in an HOA, and it was like having two landlords fighting constantly. Downsized to an apartment for the peace!!

As someone currently in the process of fostering, I am struck by the case for UBI. It would certainly not solve ALL abuse and neglect, but it would keep so many families intact and narrow the system to those who truly need it.
