Christopher Alexander.
The building- and detail-scale patterns just made such good sense, so a natural gateway to start thinking about and understanding the large scale neighborhood and city patterns that I hadn’t considered as deeply as an architecture student

The less-discussed corollary to Dunbar’s number is that the human brain has evolved to only conceptualize knowing of three people named Ed at any one time, and I already had two others

I am frequently only half paying attention when using This App so it has for a while been a mystery why people keep getting mad at Zitron when i thought I was missing what was problematic.

Anyway, it’s a relief to find out you are different guys since I especially like the woodworking content

…and some of those buildings were part of the development of the code compliance alternatives for existing buildings that eventually became Chapter 34 then the IEBC. Originated in Cleveland to solve the problems of how to reuse older buildings safely
October 25, 2025 at 3:55 PM
There are thousands of those bedrooms within a 10 minute walk of the convention center, whole districts of Cleveland’s historic buildings with residential re-use made possible with that strategy. Former warehouses and department stores that would otherwise be vacant shells still today

immaterial when the geometry of the newer Prius crashes your Revit model and the submission’s due in 45 minutes
September 23, 2025 at 11:41 PM
To be fair to the architect, any real car with curved geometry really bogs down the render processing time. The cybertruck is a great time-saver if up against a presentation deadline

I haven’t personally encountered that modification elsewhere, but local amendments seem endless in their variety and often quirky. A state by state survey via codes.iccsafe.org wouldn’t be that difficult, I suppose, though certainly tedious
September 21, 2025 at 11:21 PM
“Most” implies some variety subject to local state amendments that might modify boilerplate IRC. I can’t tell from the floor plan whether it is 9” or 10” at the walkline, and there might be an issue w/ the minimum. ICC reqmts within R-2 dwellings are also similar. But winders are generally doable
