We're urging City Councilmembers Nazarian, Padilla, and Yaroslavsky to strengthen LARSO by:
-Implementing a rent increase formula based on 60% CPI All Items
-Capping rent increases at 3% annually with a 0% floor
-Removing existing bumps for utilities and additional occupants

For example, the average rent for a small RSO unit is $2,357. This means the average renter needs to make nearly six figures a year – $94,000 – to stay within the recommended 30% rent-to-income ratio.

Tying rent increases to inflation is vital, as every extra percentage point is less money for tenants to spend on other necessities like food, medical care, transportation, and childcare.

LA's workers need a strong film and animation industry to keep us working, but if we want to keep Hollywood’s workers in their homes, we need apartments to be affordable and rents to be stable. We support Keep LA Housed Coalition’s proposal to strengthen the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance

LAUSD currently sits on a $5.03 BILLION reserve that has only grown since the 2023 strike. In reality, investment in staff has actually decreased over the years.

UTLA is once again fighting against LAUSD’s budget crisis lies. Despite being the second largest school district in the country, LA Unified always claims it’s broke.
