If I were one of the Americans freed in this exchange, I would not be pleased to learn that my freedom had been purchased with the lives of innocent refugees from persecution at the hands of the same people who had imprisoned me.

All refugees from authoritarian states should be welcome here, and only sent away if any actual evidence can be produced of wrongdoing. Instead, we've made these regressive displays of barbaric idiocy and xenophobia the norm.

This is definitely among the worst chapters of deliberate government misdeeds in recent memory -- certainly in wonton cruelty if not in scale.

I mostly ignore/block nasty and/or ultra-disagreeable people, and ignore those who aren't adding anything useful, while making sure to follow people who offer useful or interesting info or views -- just like I had to do on Twitter. I recommend this approach!
