Big fan of Pilot, so a super affordable starter pen is the Kakuno - bonus, comes with fun nib engravings, EF nib avaiable too. The Pilot Metropolitan would be next. I'm also quite fond of the Diplomat Magnum - one of the best nibs I have, though I wish they upgraded the body with nicer materials.

Treated myself to a new fountain Pen, an Asvine V200 Vac filler with a <M> nib. First fill this morning, so far I'm really impressed by the build quality and how well it writes right out of the box. Love the sleek design too (I have too many cigar shaped pens :)
