Google news has drastically over-extrapolated from my search history.

Ironheart sanforise almost their whole range and have some of the most durable, highest quality denim in the market.
dstibbardhawkes.bsky.social
You can, however, use modern sanforization techniques on shuttle-loom denim without compromising the quality of the fabric. People get really hung up on the "raw" (I.e. Shrink2fit) thing but it's, like, the least important variable.

Oh man, can you get USB-C to RCA? Imagine Julia.

To the Durham Constabulary's credit, a member of the public had reported me, probably because my swift & graceful bike mounting technique made me seem like practiced thief.

Unbeknownst to me, they chased me from New Elvett to Gilesgate. Only let me go when I found the receipt.

The Durham police once detained me in one of these cars for half an hour because they thought I had stolen my own bike.

Toronto could learn something from police cars in Durham, UK. Many are small and economical instead of big SUVs. Toronto police tell pedestrians to dress up like Durham police dress up their cars- bright and easy to see. Oh, and the yellow stripe? It designates a parking area labelled ”police.”

I've found a couple of my articles in AI datasets - which I consider to be my own tiny act of sabotage ❤️.

My subject and topic area is v. different but I'd be happy to share. Idk if you can send pdfs on bluesky but send me an email on my Baylor address.

Not just actual science but among the most important discoveries to come out of anthropology in the 20th century.

as a grad student I was interested in what human perceptual phenomena were shared with other species. I picked up "The chimpanzees of Gombe" at the library

I remember being amazed that Goodall, a household name for popular science, had done inspiringly excellent *actual* science too

Jane Goodall, ethologist and conservationist, has died. She was 91
dstibbardhawkes.bsky.social
I had the pleasure of meeting Jane Goodall once. She was an inspiration to behavioral scientists, anthropologists, and conservationists; and a trailblazer in a male-dominated profession. Rest in Peace.

Humongous congratulations to not one, not two, but THREE of our grad students — Anna Samsonov, Lizzy Kim, and Teddy Thum — for securing competitive Doctoral Dissertation Research awards from the NSF Biological Anthropology.

We are lucky to have such exceptional grads.

Personally I count Gladiator as his best contribution to the alien universe. It's a prequel.
starshine.bsky.social
everyone loves hating on Ridley Scott’s later contributions to the alien universe but without him we’d never have gotten a fictional peter weyland TED Talk screaming at the FDA for not letting him do illegal shit

it's cool that american biotech regulation is basically in line with what balaji srinivasan wants and at no point will these guys actually get a good medical treatment out of it

Describing tether as a us dollar wrapper does it much too much credit.

Tether, U.S. Dollar wrapper is worth $500B!

I'm still amazed there hasn't been a run on tether franky. It's backed by, like, 60 percent "cash equivalent assets". When it happens it will be explosive.

In French they call it "the one who gently eases my pain" and that's so beautiful.

Did you know Japan also calls it Acetaminophen? I did not, until today!
