‘They’ is the incoming US administration under Trump. If he was a rational actor, we wouldn’t be talking about 25% tariffs. Any trade agreement will need to satisfy him, but he has no respect for our current PM and will do us no favours.

We are facing unprecedented times; Canadians deserve an election.

The civil service is capable of advising new ministers on the nuts and bolts of a tariff response.
Right now the Americans think they are negotiating with a government that is poised to fall and it’s clear they don’t like Trudeau. We will not be negotiating from a position of strength.

The Trudeau Liberals are falling apart, barely functioning, and even if they were freshly re-elected, there is little they can do to stop Trump from wreaking havoc.

Exactly, so the sooner we have an election the better. If those 25% tariffs happen, every day wasted will be $ down the drain.

Disagree with May. The current government is polling at under 20 pts, is already seen as a caretaker, and Trump has no respect for Trudeau. A freshly elected PM will have a mandate to negotiate. Better to get it over with now.

Well you might be able to have one of those, but not both. Caucus is done with him and credible polls have him at a new low of 16%. The Libs need a new leader fast or risk handing the Conservatives a massive win.

Rakhi, no one is denying children access to health care. The wait times in ERs are a problem. Lack of family doctors is a big problem. The UCP bears much responsibility for this. But how will an NDP government fix these issues?

I think the reporting is reflective of public sentiment on the PM and interest in the issue. It also seems that the Liberal Caucus is intent of his resignation.

'Vast majority' of Liberal caucus wants Trudeau to resign, MP says — Global News
Liberal MP Anthony Housefather says Trudeau has lost the confidence of Canadians and wants to ensure Liberals can offer a different vision in the next election.

This is weak tea. The NDP holds fundraisers too. I think there are more effective attack lines and your party needs to find them fast. You are almost tied with the Trudeau Liberals in the polls.

I also agree with what she is trying to do. You don’t have to like Smith or the UCP or Trump or Cons to support those trying to convince him tariffs are bad for everyone concerned. Unfortunately the federal government is preoccupied and ineffective and has left diplomacy to the provinces.

The flags and stickers are a tasteless and vulgar expression of how badly Trudeau has handled relations with the Western provinces.

Banff is in a national park and the RCMP is a federal police force. Parks Canada also has some law enforcement responsibilities. How much of Banff’s policing is / should be paid for by the Feds? What role can Alberta Sheriffs play? Alberta Fish and Wildlife?

I’m not sure the public is resisting a transition to clean energy. I think they are resisting policies that don’t really reduce emissions but do increase the cost of heat, transportation and food.

I think they are referring to personal injury lawyers, who stand to lose under a no fault system.

This is exactly the kind of double standard that allows Oil and Gas to claim that environmental assessments were never really about communities or endangered species or sensitive ecosystems. Streamline the process. These projects need be compliant.

BLUF: Officials say the infected conference participant was not vaccinated against the disease.
December 8, 2024 at 6:13 AM
Fair. But an emissions cap like the Feds have floated will really kill investment in the sector, which is of course is what Guilbault intends to do here.
