Ahhh, so charming! A love letter to community theater that feels like a piece of community theater. If somebody with the right touch remade this, it could be my favorite movie.

A little too short to be eligible, but I think this has finally nudged me to check out Jonathan Demme’s Who Am I This Time.

The Monkey was such a blast, and I’m irrationally high on Companion. I own the grocery store they filmed in and they were super nice. I didn’t know at the time how much I’d love everything Jack Quaid would do this year. This, Novocaine, and his part in Heads of State make such a fun triptych.

I’m surprised how high I remain on Superman. I am a fan of a lot of Gunn’s scripts, but seeing him center such a sincere, openhearted character feels like him hitting a whole new gear. Such an impressive evolution that the guy who did Super (which I love) grew into the guy who could do this, too.

Oh shoot, yeah. I do like it, but I could easily see liking it 20% more just by adding an era appropriate laugh track. Great call.

I do like a lot of what Zombie is doing with his Munster’s, I just kinda wish somebody with a better sense for comedy pacing would go in and re-edited it to take some of the excess air out of a lot of the scenes.

Yeah, dial up the score a little to feel like and ending and following folks underground would at least feel like a statement of some kind.
