Yeah, they tend to be way too overengineered... Zig is an example of how to actually do build systems. I also quite like the spirit of Gradle's kotlin DSL.

These tech revolutions always receive skepticism as well as optimism. Both parties always claim they saw the future, but they don't (you can't, especially not with such unpredictable stuff). I guess there's only one way to find out where this one ends up.

I don't know about you, but tumblr doesn't seem to be a good alternative to twitter imo. Tumblr is more focused on creativity as it seems (I've never been on there but okay) whereas Twitter is (used to be) more "business/serious talk" and sometimes even formal.

Recently had this happen with JOSM. Great piece of software, yet a bit old and uses some archaic ant+some other apache stuff+maven build system on CVS. The ant script didn't even work properly... maven got the job done though.

I think macs, like iphones, are designed to reel as much people into the ecosystem, as a first of many Apple devices. Intuitively macs need to be as easy to get into as possible. I get the idea behind the UX, it's in some places better than Windows 10.

Yeah that seems logical due to the nature of this platform. But I suspect some more "normal" twitter refugees might end up here. But they could just as much switch to mastodon/friendica/pleroma instead...
