In honor of Indigenous Peoples Day, I give you “taqʷuʔmaʔ” in all its snowy glory. In its anglicized spelling, “Tahoma,” the indigenous name for Mt. Rainier means “the mother of waters, or “snowy peak.” Finally fully adorned in its rightful snowy white, it’s living up to its name today.

35 years ago, the country I call my “European home” reunified and became a single country for the first time after the end of WWII. So this weekend the colors are „schwarz, rot und Gold“ in honor of the 35th Tag der Deutschen Einheit (Reunification Day)
