Anna Helen Mahler-Aszkanazy (1893–1970) left her native Vienna one day after the Anschluss on March 13, 1938. In her new home in Canada, she wrote down her memories of her time in Vienna. She dedicates the typescript to her granddaughter, who received it on her 17th birthday.
