Fuck you, sir. I am out of this conversation.

You are a closed-minded troglodyte, sir.

All serious writers use AI marketing, especially if you are on Amazon. Not necessariy generative-AI. You do not know me, nor do you know my books, many of which have received excellent reviews by Kirkus, Booklife, and others. They are not slop. I have used gen-AI for a single element on one cover.

Most artists, including me, want to get their work before people. And I would like to make something back for the years I've put into. But that's not why I do it. I don't know why that's so hard to understand.

This is a bs argument. Nothing I have done has denied anyone compensation. If anyone is doing that, it is the AI tech industry. For me, personally, the idea is ridiculous. I can't afford to pay anyone or I would. You are asking me, in essence to give up the tools to get my art seen.

These kind of generalizations are wrong, as generalizations are always wrong. Someone with artistic skill can use AI elements without it being slop. It's just a tool, you have to know how to use it. Scammers have been flooding the marketplace with slop long before AI came along. Slop is nothing new.

I disagree with the answer. My question was rhetorical.

Your privilege is speaking.

Nothing will replace my work. I do it for love of the work, not profit. They said the same things about music when we began using samples and loops, now all of the artists use them. They said ebooks would kill the book industry. Again I say, solidarity with whom? As defined by you?

Do you use Amazon, and its massive AI algorithms that dynamically place and price your books? All based on information stolen from data farming. How many writers complaining about AI don't use Amazon? Once again, you accuse me without knowing fuck about me and how I use AI. And caring, evidently.
November 20, 2025 at 3:09 PM
You say that without asking how I use it. That seems closed minded to me. I should have solidarity with who? Most who argue as you do speak from a POV of privilege. The publishing world is rigged, and not all AI is theft, BTW. The AI question is very important, but Capitalism is the real problem.

I'm going to risk embarrassing myself by defending some artistic uses of AI. I'm a novelist and songwriter. I'm also on SS and have a hard time paying the bills. I can't afford performers to demo my songs, or advertisers to promo my books, all written without AI. AI does this for me. Is this wrong?
