Ah, Dublin Central 2007—a masterclass in Irish political drama. This is the story of how Cyprian Brady, Bertie Ahern’s protégé, took a seat with just 939 first preference votes, while his party colleague Mary Fitzpatrick—who got nearly 1,800 votes—was left fuming. Scandal? Sabotage? Strap in. 🧵

4. Vacant

The area got moved from 3 to 4 seats and without Maureen O'Sullivan running it left the field wide open.
