The neat thing about being in your 30s is the fact that a switch flips in your brain where people’s opinions of you suddenly matter way less than they used to, small mundane things are oddly fulfilling, “cringe” becomes cool again, & your friendships/relationships feel nothing short of miraculous

Nevermind, this is probably not relevant.
My point being that they probably generally have higher self-esteem than you would expect that helps them justify their behavior to themselves.
This kind of reminds me of the thing about bullies actually having higher self-esteem.
