It was a heady time for development there, did some wild projects with VWoA.

I haven’t.
I worked for APR, and ran their shop while we were in development of the R8 supercharger and running the R8LMS cars in competition.
I probably have more seat time in the SC’d R8 than anyone other than engineering staff, as I drove it to car shows.

I’ve been blessed to have been employed at places that afforded me the opportunity to drive stuff I’d never own.

For me, I won’t ever have the money to pay for track time or the skill to properly flog a car with big power. I’d rather enjoy my VR swapped mk2 GTI at its limits.
A RS7 with software did wild things, but did not produce the joy of a properly fitted small hatch.
