Both are from lower class families; they are from a marginalized group that had to work their way up to the top by themselves to get where they are today; Alastor being a mixed race Creole man in the 1920s/1930s and getting his own Radio show wasn’t easy and he was discriminated.

Both are emotionally constipated, they act like assholes on purpose, and put on a mask to appear a certain way to others; in Alastor's case he puts on a smile at all times, putting up a front to scare and intimidate others so he can appear powerful and in control at all times—

Both love their mothers very much; Blitz lost his mother, and was even responsible for her death; we don’t know what happened to Alastor’s mother but chances are something happened to her that deeply traumatized him as well.
