On the plus side it's nice when a writer admits, apropos of nothing, that they are a vapid misanthrope. Lets you know they aren't writing any ideas worth reading

Aside from bots the main reason twitter art posts get more engagement is because there are still tons of popular artists there that haven't moved. If they came here, so would their active followers. But instead they seem to want bsky to magically become the same size as twitter BEFORE jumping ship

I mean theyve been willing to label anything that runs a script as "AI powered" for decades, but the unprecedented marketing campaign selling llms as AI means the term is now firmly tied with them in most peoples eyes

Yeah, and if youre in a room full of british people, you can call a cigarette a f*g, everyone will know what you mean. But when youre communicating to the general public, say in an interview, your language should adapt to that, otherwise youll be misunderstood.

When you say AI to a guy on the street, he will think chatgpt and thats entirely not his fault and to be expected, thanks to this insane marketing. Thats all im saying.

Same as someone getting mad that a word has changed meanings because of slang. You can insist to the end of time that f*g means cigarette or bundle of sticks. Not to most people, not anymore. You dont have to adapt to it, but getting mad at people for misunderstanding you is just silly

Its not a bunch of people deciding theyre experts, its a product being forced upon billions being called AI by the people selling it. If you say AI, they will think of the product being sold to them every day that is called AI.

They dont, but everyone should by now understand that when you say "AI" in december 2025, to 99% of ppl it means chatgpt. To continue calling all machine learning by the same name invites this kind of thing

I do not get why people are pretending that the absurd scale of this thing is irrelevant. The tech existed before the speculative bubble and will exist after it, but sooo many problems with it are solved when the mass compute farms propped up by funny money close down.
