My parents’ favorite memory: taking me as a tot to a showing of Bambi. Flash forward to the forest burning and me screaming “SHE JUST WANTS HER MOMMY!” over and over. I did much better with live action—could not separate animation from real life ha.

That old cheap discount theater around 51st & maybe 7th (Manhattan)(can’t remember exact, gone now), my 16th or so viewing of The Matrix, people start pulling out food: sushi platters, spaghetti, full on “picnic in the theater” vibes. Amazing.

Crowded theater on Atlantic Avenue (Brooklyn), sold out show Sugar Hill (1994), one character says something along the lines of “let me tell you…” (can’t remember the exact quote 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️), and someone yells out “Every Black man got a story!” Complete pandemonium. Film inaudible for 10 minutes after.
