It may have been an Alien rip off but James Cameron’s production design and visual effects make it look and feel like a rough draft of Aliens. Like Battle Beyond the Stars before it, model fx shots from Galaxy of Terror would be reused in Roger Corman’s sci-fi movies for many years to come.

While watching Feeders 2: Slay Bells I kept thinking that it had to have been filmed in Pennsylvania. And indeed it was. That could be my special gift, being able to judge the Pennsylvanianess of things.

One of my favorite things about Starcrash is Christopher Plummer’s sedate, halting performance as The Emperor of the First Circle of the Universe. He’s like Ambien. His creeping undulant gravitas is a weighted blanket.

The fleshy androids from The Time Travelers are creepy and unsettling in that distinctive 60’s and 70’s manner. Maybe it’s because their mouths could be hairdryers.

How have I missed “The Hoboken Chicken Emergency” until now? A TV movie with a giant chicken seems like something that would have been on my radar when I was 10. Besides that big motherclucker, it stars Peter Billingsley, Gabe Kaplan and The DVP (Dick Van Patten). It’s MST3K worthy.
