(That is what happens at Castle Sar! But Basalt is much easier to work with than marble!)

I think, rather, they had marble tiles/bricks that were motar'ed together.

Kem Palace sat in the northern Kekemli Mountains; a grand structure of gray stone, adorned with rubies that would catch the morning sunlight and bathe the mighty mountain peaks with red splendor. It was home to the Irsak tribe, and its magnificence reflected the power of its Bash perfectly.

Mos Palace sat in the opposite south, in the Winter Marshes, buried in stunning snow and ice for most of the year except when the short summer would awaken the dells with beautiful flowering trees and deep blue pools of cool, still waters. The Ejo tribe ruled its halls and maintained the marshes surrounding it.

Castle Sar was far to the west, and hosted the seat of the Usara tribe. It was carved into the very cliffs of the black Rihado Mountains, accentuated by golden pillars and archways, and illuminated by waterfalls that cascaded down its towers.

But though these palaces were grand and beautiful, Ral was still the first, the grandest, and home to the only royals in Ilimak still considered Aliamara's chosen. It sat on the eastern shore overlooking the Mija Sea, resting at the heart of the Jahus tribe. Its outer walls were made of white marble. White flags flew from each of the five towers- four at its corners, and one in the center that sprouted from the Grand Hall. It was surrounded by its city to the west and south, and by a beautiful manicured garden to the north. To the east, there was only sea, and the great Horizon Storm that raged for miles and centuries far in the distance. Ral Palace did not fear this storm. Ral Palace had no need to fear anything.
