I feel like as a kid every cartoon was trying to convince me to buy toys. Now I’m watching Bluey and Trash Truck and Stillwater and it’s like children’s TV went through a renaissance. Although Batman The Animated Series is still legendary.

With 3 of us the debt that worries me the most is abstraction and design debt. Having to spend a month building a new feature cause of the drag of leaky abstractions, abandoned functionality and half finished models is a problem no amount of throwing money at AWS will fix.

I have so many mixed feelings about GraphQL. It solves some real problems with REST but a lot of those felt like symptoms of tying business logic to DB structure when the two drift independently of each other. The added complexity feels meh

Coming back to Python/Django after a 8 year break from professional development has been fascinating. I generally like the direction both have taken but I think Django has been far better at seamlessly integrating those changes. Things like Python typing are nice but so awkward to use

One of the daunting parts of building your own product is having to make the call to stop adding/polishing yourself. You instinctively flinch from negative feedback but trying to avoid all of it resulted in an over engineered product

Moving from management back to code, especially as a founder, has been a trip. The biggest point of discomfort was getting used to moving through _every_ decision with less data than I’d like. Never ending opportunities to second guess but no time to dwell.
