I was a kid at the time they were used, and my dad called them diskettes.
Later in life I learnt the term floppy, and I just thought it was the english term (from Spain btw)
No other references really, just my father. But that's my experience.

Ah, I just read that the ICE terrorists even pulled the Israeli tactic of prohibiting official medical aid from reaching their victim. They didn't quite massacre the ambulance like Israel often does, but the effect is similar: ensure the injuries they cause mean death or permanent maiming.
