My funny foreign name is derived from my great-great-great-great-grandfather, who crossed from France to England some time around 1780. And mixed in along the way is a bit of Irish, Jewish, and who knows what else. In other words, I see myself as typically British - i. e. a mongrel.

So reminiscent of Hitler, who was obsessed with glitzy architecture.

I've heard an equivalent version that circulates among medical people: Physicians know everything and do nothing; surgeons know nothing and do everything; psychiatrists know nothing and do nothing; pathologists know everything and do everything, but it's too late because the patient's dead.

And I realised, looking at that private citizen's tweets, that doesn't have even the most elementary understanding of what a constitution is or how it is supposed to work.

Makes me think of satnav. Many of those who've never been without it can't find their way easily. If the satellites get knocked out in some conflict they'd be lost - literally.

Puts me in mind of Lady Ann Grimston (d. 1711), who supposedly did not believe in life after death, and declared that if she was wrong a tree would grow up through her grave. Which several duly did. See pic of grave in Tewin churchyard, Herts. Old railings are embedded in tree. Believe if you wish!
