For me there was a clear drop off for computer views from 8/10-8/12. My graph looks exactly like Josh’s in the video. Computer views have always been highest, but for the video I released on 8/16 computer fell below mobile and TV. It’s strange.

So @joshstrifehayes.bsky.social and a few others may have figured out the recent YouTube shenanigans. YT is fucking with how desktop views are counted. Josh’s findings line up with my analytics too. Big drop in desktop views starting around Aug 10th.

🧵/1 - So restricted mode is only part of a larger problem with YouTube's new AI tool that's restricting videos while trying to guess your age based on what you watch. No one knows the criteria for what it deems restrict-able. It's not the usual age-restriction practices that YT already has in place.

Unfortunately, it's also impossible. There are thousands of hours of content uploaded every hour. Moderation just isn't feasible without some sort of automation.

I despise how hard YouTube actively fucks over its users and creators at every turn.

Be sure to check your devices (Yes, plural DEVICE(S), because they’ve made it per device not just account), and make sure this setting is OFF!

It’s potentially hiding thousands of videos from you.

Yeah, thee cinematography and shot composition in all of his movies (that I’ve seen) are really good. Even Sweet Home. It’s the best part of the film, IMO.
